Old lady

Snapped this photo of a First Generation - Transit MK-1 (1965 - 1978) and began to think of how much history is hidden in her rust.
The van was first built in Ford Cologne in Germany and was known as Ford Taunus Transit (FK1000). It had 1.3 litre engine (extended to 1.5 litre in 1955) and was very similar to the VW Transporter.
In 1972, the Metropolitan police dubbed the Transit 'Britain’s most wanted van'. It said: “Ford Transits are used in 95% of bank raids. With the performance of a car and space for 1.75 tonnes of loot, the Transit is proving the perfect getaway vehicle."
Just seven years into the Transit’s life, sales for the van reached one million units sold, with the milestone example exported to Nigeria in the form of a 2.0-litre minibus.
So this old lady speaks to 8 million sales today! So, when you see something or someone who is getting on.... Think maturity not age!
