Having a Splashing Time
In the current heat of France we are concerned with keeping Pepper cool. In the course of today we took a tour of the Verdun Citadelle (done well but nothing new) and then tried to find out where to see the evidence of the shell-shocked landscape.
Plenty of this around with a landscape shaped like no other. As I looked at the shattered pieces of what once was a school it was hard to think of the lives that might have been there once and wonder if their descendants are still in the area.
As we walked back to our motorhome from the centre of Verdun, John took Pepper down to the river/stream flowing through and got her to play in the water – she loved it!
We are now parked alongside a river, no facilities, no phone signal so no internet, but well dined and fed after a brilliant and emotional time in this area. Tomorrow we will move on to Luxembourg.
