Trafalgar Square
Went into London just after lunch with Emma, and went to look round the Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park which is huuuge and actually beats the Champs Elysées Christmas market. We then went to Trafalgar Square and had a hot chocolate whilst watching the Christmas carollers in front of a huge Christmas tree at Trafalgar Square.
There was a maybe late-twenties couple standing near us, the guy gave his camera to a nearby policeman and asked him to take a photo of them in front of the Christmas tree. Just as the policeman was about to take the photo, the guy got down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend! (She said yes, potential awkwardness averted) which was a very cool thing to witness. Though films tend to cut the scene at this point and now I see why - the following minutes were just kind of awkward and anti-climaxy, with the couple just standing and awkwardly grinning.
We went back to Emma's second-year-flat which is ridiculously nice, and had a quick dinner and some drinks before heading back out to see Bombay Bicycle Club (5th time for me, 8th for her!) at KOKO in Camden, which was really good. Met Ron (or whatever the ginger guy from BBC's actual name is) who spoke to us a bit, though seems very socially awkward! We then went to a bar before going back to her flat.
