Fleeting poppies

Today has been rediculously hot.. l think it reached 31 and l realise that we had a prolonged period last year of this kind of temperature every day for weeks.  This year however we were all wearing socks and jumpers until yesterday so the sudden heat has rendered us useless for much of the day!!  Even the wasp nest was having trouble with its air conditioning!!  As you can see in the extra there were several bods posted outside fanning their wings frantically trying to reduce the nest temperature!!
A lovely evening having supper with friends to welcome home their daughter and fiancee from Australia where they have been working for the past 10 months.  Now ready for wedding planning and house hunting and starting new jobs in August. It was lovely to see them and also to eat outside for the first evening this year.. the wind picked up and we were chilly by 10.. but a fun evening.
