The artist at 90

We attended the wonderful birthday party of an old friend of Ellen's family. David Martin is now 90 and we felt privileged to be invited. He is a very fine painter and has been very encouraging to Ellen as she has taken forward her career.

The cake did not have 90 candles but it did have a sparkler in the shape of 90. All David had to do was light it and it burned itself out. He told tales of his time in India and entertained us with some jazz piano playing. He is a multi-talented individual!

There was such warmth in the room for him and it needed to be recorded in the journal so the iPhone had to do.

We promised to get back together on David's 100th!

We promised to return for his 100th.
