A Slag Heap With Its Own Website.

Today I visitied the thing that produces the most CO2 in Europe. The third largest coal-fired power station in the world. Alone, it provides 1/5th of Poland's electricity.

It is a monster.

Between me and it on this picture is the strip mine that feeds it. It produces 44 million tonnes of coal a year. The hole in the ground is 13km long and 3.5km wide.
They built a mountain from the waste that you can chair lift up and ski or mountain bike down. It is a slag heap with its own website

Even at this distance, the power station hums. It is so enormously powerful that when it was time to leave, I backed away, rather than turning my back on it...
