Everything Matters
The energy at the Capitol hung thick in the air this morning, not dampened at all by the drizzle of rain. The fight continued in an attempt to ensure that democrat endorsed climate legislation, known as House Bill 2020, or cap-and-trade, was actually dead. Republican legislators who fled the state, and are still in hiding in order to avoid a vote on the bill, were being hailed as valiant warriors in this fight. The crowd demanded the Governor to come out from behind the walls of her office to talk to the people. Timber executives, farmers, loggers and truck drivers waved flags and honked horns to wild cheers from the throngs gathered on the steps.
The time for civil discourse seems a distant memory and as of tonight there is no resolution in sight. My heart raced as I finally made my way back to my car, realizing that I had no answers and much inner work to do in order to make sense of it all...
