A day in and out

‘A day off’ it’s called but it very rarely is,
The hours fill up with the lists and the biz.
London was a-buzzing, every people every nation,
Lunch was a fund raiser, fab food and fab orations.
A room full of suits and the poshest of frocks
The call came to give, & to pull up our socks
Through heat back home to fulfil obligations
Then back into London for a birthday celebration
Cos back in February, when Dot.T turned eighteen
We bought her some tickets for the show of her dreams.
