Growing old disgracefully

By GOD

NIGHT LIGHTS

I spend about an hour awake most nights. I’ve been a poor sleeper since childhood. But it no longer has the terrors it had when I was younger. One of the best lessons I learned from my mindfulness teacher was the ‘Hello, insomnia!’ approach of greeting even unpleasant experiences like friends.

These days, it’s less a time for existential questions and more an opportunity for gratitude.
