Ouch!!
They are building a small new school across the road from us. It will replace the existing school which is currently housed in a 120 year old building with all the challenges an old building brings.
In preparation for the move, there is an exhibition on of memories from the school. In one exercise the children illustrated extracts from the school log. An extract from 1904 recorded
Complaints against boys for misbehaving in the road. After inquiry gave
Robert Veitch six strokes for (1) telling Owen to choke a boy and to throw hime over the dyke (2) for using bad language (a) go fc (b) give them fc. (3) for lying
Thomas Brown 5 strokes and William Carmichael 5 strokes for shoving others on the road intentionally and Robert Somerville 4 strokes for kicking
We have made progress. Though it took us long enough.
