Singleton
Only one chick this year in the prime nesting site on the cliff - usually three are raised here.
Eggs and chicks are vulnerable to the cold wet weather we've had this summer but also to predation by other gulls so this one may be the lone survivor. It looked lonely and edged alarmingly close to its parent standing on guard duty high above the sea. Later I saw it being brooded. Maybe it will benefit from being the sole recipient of the food delivery.
Extra shows the tiny chick in the big nest.
