More Than a Flower...
I'm fascinated by bees, and feel very fortunate to have wild blackberries growing just beyond our back yard/garden fence that attract a wide range of bees at this time of year.
Those busy female worker bees pack their pollen sacs with the grayish pollen produced by the blackberry flowers -- see a fine example on the right back leg of the bee in the extra photo. Each new batch of pollen is pressed onto the bottom of the pollen sac, and when the sac is full, there are about one million grains of pollen in it.
The natural world is an unceasing source of pleasure!
