Diary of an Edinburgher

Bracing? Yes!

Henry was very chuffed at being in the blipday spotlight yesterday. Thank you for all your nice comments throughout the day.

Well, Henry did get his walkies later in the day. And then I went to the chemist to get a cough potion for JR. This hacking cough is just refusing to go away.

I also went to the supermarket. It has The Most Awful, loud, screechy, yelly, tinny muzak I have ever heard! I complained to every employee that I came across, and all agreed with me. As I checked out, I complained again. The young woman agreed and asked if I wanted to speak to the manager. Yes. She pressed a button, and a young man (of about 15) appeared, so I complained to him.

'What's it for?' I asked.

'To provide a nice festive atmosphere!' he replied, straight faced.'We've had Christmas music on.'

Those Performing Right Licence sellers must have a good line in persuading people to pay good money for a licence for something which is the direct opposite of what they say! Sorry. Rant over.

This morning Henry and I went along the coast the other way. If yesterday was bracing, this was Bracing With Bells On! There was foam all along the walkway. The waves were right up and sometimes came crashing over, as we found out when Henry nearly knocked me flying as he tried to get away from a big whopper. I had to hang on to my hat, and at times it was hard to walk.

There were some brave souls out walking dogs, and some new scooters and skates on show as well, although the pebbles on the promenade made for difficult scooting and skating.

I got right along to the old burnt out pier. I chose this shot of the young woman and her dog. I had to lean on the railings to keep the camera still enough. She kept throwing sticks and the dog would disappear over the edge. I was worried it would be swept away. I just noticed the seagull when I downloaded uploaded put it on my iPad. They hardly move in the wind.

We're off shopping. Friends coming for lunch tomorrow. Haven't seen them for years.

We're very unhappy that the fantastic bakery nearby is shut till after New Year! :-(

However, the fantastic Italian restaurant IS open. :-)
