Armed Forces Day

A ceremony outdoors in front of the Civic Centre. The piper played, those in uniform stood to attention, speeches were made, and the flag was raised.

And the choir sang. I had a small solo part - the whole thing a surreal contrast with the rest of my day, much of which has been in Manchester.

And the rain held off.

Taking a photo which works was not easy. Here I am peering over a servicewoman’s shoulder, the City Mayor is half way through his speech. We had sung two numbers before the speeches, stood aside, and then returned to end the ceremony with another two.
