Umbrellas to the Fore
Perhaps it was not such a great idea to venture out this morning with the weather forecast as it was and the conditions as they were.
The mist was down at tree level and it was damp, dark and drizzly. However stride out I did, wearing my waterproof coat but no water proof trousers. The latter was a mistake because by the time I had walked down to Morningside to buy a school tie for a grandson going to a new school after the holidays and walked home with thunder crashing behind me and the now heavy rain stotting off the emergent puddles, my jeans were sodden from the knee down to my wet trainers. I peeled them off with difficulty and hung them with my raincoat and rucksack in the airing cupboard to dry off. That may take some time.
Goodness knows what has happened to the weather this year, but to have a day in midsummer when it’s as dark as the middle of December and you need the lights on in the house to be able to see, is very depressing.
I have spent the afternoon with my knitting and the papers. No more braving the elements.
