An evening with Mark Knopfler.
Annemarie and I went to Amsterdam in the afternoon for a concert in the Ziggo Dome by Mark Knopfler. "An evening with Mark Knopfler"
All went well this time. We arrived around 17.30 hours. First we had a nice burger dinner and after that we slowly strolled to the Ziggo Dome. By then it was just past 18.30. Because of the heat outside we decided to go in already. Inside the temperature was much nicer. We found our seats, second tier. Quite high but we had a nice view at the stage.
At 20.00 hours sharp Mark entered the stage and took off on his guitars. No support act or what so ever. We came to see Mark, and he delivered!
What an amazing concert.
"Why aye man" was the opening song, followed by lots of great Dire Straits songs. "Speedway at Nazareth" was my personal favorite and highlight of the evening. But of course "Romeo and Juliet" and "Once upon a time in the West" and "Brother in Arms" gave us the old goosebumps.
After the third encore 'Going Home Wild Theme' from Local hero the stage remained empty. 22.47 hours. The concert had come to and end after almost 3 hours playing. What a great show! And what great sound in this dome. It felt as if we had been listening to a CD. Fantastic!
We walked back through the crowds to our car and drove the 2 hours back home. Around 01.00 am we crashed into bed.
