Trophies of the Fall
It's howling a gale outside. A gale which has been growing in strength all day and is forecast to reach gusts of 140kph (87mph) before it is due to abate somewhere near midnight. The West is getting the worst of it and as I write the picturesque town of Westport, where I once lived for a couple of years has borne the brunt and is without electricity as a result. Bad enough here on the East but at least we still have power.
It has been one of those days NOT made for photography and I simply found it impossible to overcome inertia and get out with a camera. Table top shooting was the answer and thank goodness for the blip box. For those of you new to my journal, my blip box is simply a timber box in which I keep all sorts of bits and bobs collected during the year for just such a day as today. So, grab three Autumn leaves, drizzle them with water from my spray bottle and bung them in the freezer for two hours. The result? Well I'll let you be the judge of whether it was worthwhile or not.
Tomorrow, if the wind comes down a bit I might just take a trip to Dublin, take in an exhibition, have a meal and do a bit of blipping. With wife away I don't feel like cooking anyway so I reckon it's a good plan. Let's see if the railway line is still there by morning.
