Wound up in Wexford

Glad Midsommar

Midsummer is a major celebration in Sweden.  Originally celebrated on 24th June, it's now always celebrated on a Friday (and the subsequent weekend).  Traditionally, the weather is not good!  Today, contrary to tradition, the sun shone.  This is Midsommar Eve, and there was a celebration at a local museum, with dancing around a "Maypole", picnics in the sun, face painting, and other fun things.

For children, Midsommar is for fun, for older folk it is an excuse for excess, mainly alcoholic.   Much like Christmas really (which is of course the Midwinter celebration).

Afterwards, we came home, and Z and S came round for a BBQ.  Briefly, it rained, but now a mellow evening.
