Health care

I've had a couple of really frustrating days experiencing the hospital system here. Day one was with a friend in labour. She was made to have blood tests and an ultrasound for no reason whatsoever (other than a way for the hospital to make money). The medical staff are horrible to refugee women. It made me wonder how there can be so much disparity in the world. There's just no comparison with Western health care systems. Hours later we left because the contractions had slowed. Still no baby. I'm expecting my phone to go any time though.

Day 2 involved driving to a town on the Turkish border with a family. We waited for ages with their son to have surgery (the one in the photo). We eventually got called by the doctor to be told there would be no surgery, the gov wasn't allowing any to be done for bureaucratic reasons. Aaargh, such a waste of time and effort.

I'm feeling very thankful for the NHS!
