Romanticism is in peril!
I sometimes think that we are becoming a tad too clinical.
On the left pf the photograph is an apple on an alabaster dish. The variety is Cox's Orange Pippin. On the right we have a clutch of cherries on another alabaster dish. The variety is 4-84! Where is the joy in such a varietal name? Who is going to go into the local greengrocer and ask for a pound of 4-84s?
I must say, however, that cherries were delicious; they deserve better!
