Change of plans
Ha. I thought I was heading home for a day and a half of catching up at home.
Instead, there was lots of drama over a petechial rash on my Mother’s legs. She seemed really well and was smiling but a doctor was called and on the suspicion of meningitis, an ambulance was called. Three hours later, and no ambulance yet.
In fact, seven hours later, Mum was collected and taken in, still feeling absolutely fine, and then many hours after that, blood tests confirmed that it wasn’t meningitis but she did need to be admitted. So sitting in the same cubicle with her as I did on 15th January and then the same side room as I did on the 16th January, I eventually got home in the small hours, aware that the one year anniversary of Dad’s death had arrived.
