The Things You See

I had picked Alliance South Dakota as our stopping point  and later found out it is the site of Carhenge.  It wasn't far out of town so it was our first stop this morning.  It is a replica of Stonehenge created with cars.  We are in this part of the country because of the novel Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry.  I didn't read it and watched the T.V series but the other members of the family read and re read it.  So we were headed to Ogallala, Nebraska.  In the book they drive their cattle through here on the way to Montana.  It is a dusty town near the railroad.  We lost count of the trains we saw from the highway.  We had a good lunch and saw the little museum and it's our road trip and we can do what we like.
Time to head west to Colorado on the interstate. Vroom, vroom.
