Swapping Seasons
I paid what was probably my last visit of the year to the woodland where I monitor nest boxes on the Longshaw estate. There was no activity around the boxes, and not a great deal to be seen in the wider woodland. I'm hoping this means the nestlings have all fledged and not fallen victim to the poor weather. The wood was damp and there was plenty of fungal life starting to show. These Lumpy Brackets, however are not new - one of their distinguishing features is that green algae grow on the surface. Hopefully the damp will at least provide us with a better fungus season than last year.
