The Emporer's Warriors

It was Mum's last day with us today, and after my visit to see the Terracotta Army in Brussels a few weeks ago, she said she'd like to go and see it.

My Dad used to travel the world on business, and on one occasion about 30 years ago, he was working in Beijing, China, and he was taken by the Chinese Government to visit the Terracotta Army. It was at a time when it wasn't open to the general public, and was considered a great honour to be invited to see it.

So I took Mum into Brussels this morning to see the exhibition, and I'm so glad I did. She said she really enjoyed seeing it, and that it made her think of Dad and his visit in China. She never thought that all those years ago, she would ever see it, and I guess it just made her feel close to him, seeing what he saw.

This photo is taken in a replica of the first pit that was found, and it's worth taking a closer look to see the detail in their faces.

We then went for a lovely lunch before heading off to the airport. She's been with us for just over a week, and we've had a lovely time together, but it's flown! We'll see her again soon though, as we're heading over to the UK for a family visit in a few weeks time.
