A 24 hour escape to York whilst the in laws are in charge of the kids. 

Managed a short run, 12 week countdown to GNR has started! Then a train to York where much of the day was spent eating and drinking, and walking! Tea, a tasty lunch in Los Moros, a wander round the Turner & Ruskin art exhibition, a walk along the river and up to the hotel, then pancakes.

Then the highlight of the trip at the Grand Opera House to see Sir Ian Mckellen on stage as part of his 80th birthday tour. An impressive, amusing three hours of his life as a boy in a northern town, his love of all things theatre, Shakespeare, and if course Gandalf.
