Serinyadell
The Serinyadell flows through the centre of our village. Sometimes a mere trickle but now a fast flowing mini torrent.
Behind me as I took this shot are women washing clothes at the little stone trough, unbelievable in 2012, in Serinya many women prefer to bring their clothes down to the river to rinse and scrub.
Perhaps it is because the village water is very calcified, causing problems for heating systems ,washing machines, taps and pipes. We have a de-calsifier which swallows tonnes of salt but still we have white deposits in kettles and pans. solid blocks of reconstituted lime appear in drains and septic tanks leading to blockages and pleasant afternoons spent unblocking waterpipes, radiators and drain outlets.
The other possibility is that as canny Catalans they are saving on the not inconsiderable cost of water by using natures resources for free.
