Sections of time ?

I came home midday to accompany J to the hospital.

Afterwards, we called in at a nearby walled garden, one of the loveliest in the area. Verdant, colourful and scented, just what we needed.

But no sun, so impossible to tell the time from this rather unsettling sundial.

Or at least I think it’s a sundial. But where is the number 7 ? And why aren’t the numbers sequential ? I have only noticed the oddity of this once I had a close look at the image, there is a bit of mystery to this one.
