At the finish of the London to Brighton cycle ride, raising money for the British Heart foundation.
Whilst we lived in Sussex this annual ride used to go past our village and we went every year to shout and cheer the riders as they went past. Normally 40,000 of them!!!
This is the first time we have been in the area since moving to Norfolk so we went to Brighton to see the finish line. It was so well organised, every rider was personally welcomed and congratulated by the PA lady. They must have a really good recognition system working there to get all the names as they finish.
We got there early so we could get a special Aussie breakfast in a cafe in the marina. Before we finished (about 9.45) one of the riders had parked up outside, came in for a pee and then sat outside for a coffee and a fag. He had started at 6.30am in London, it took him 3 hours to cycle 56 miles. And he smoked!!
So impressed by all the riders and their efforts for a good cause
