Graduating from day care

One of the myriad reasons I like Ottawa (there, I said it), is the way schools and other institutions treat my child when in loco parentis.

Ottawacker Jr has just graduated from day care. (No, I didn't know that either.) But to celebrate, we all turned up at his school for a lovely pot luck, and each child walked across stage to be given a certificate by Cara, who marshals them all into coherent groups before and after school.

It's hard to realize at the time how these wonderful people come in and out of your life. Cara and Nihal and many others have helped turn Ottawacker Jr into the person he is. They are as responsible as I am. And I hope they know how much I mean that.
