New path
Claire heads off sailing - Ladies Day at Fisherow. I potter around, listless. As the clouds close in I retire to my room and watch the first hour of Titanic. I may not watch the rest.
Claire returns with food and promptly falls asleep on the sofa. I cook, we eat, and take an early evening walk. First, we head round the new path above the house.
The path is quite lumpy, but we’ll be able to flatten it over time. It winds through trees that we planted 25 years ago, that Claire spent an afternoon brashing a few weeks ago. It finishes with a straight descent between lines of poplars and scotch pines. The poplars were leftovers from a tree planting job, donated by James.
Back in the day James and Pauline stayed here in their caravan. We’ve not seen much of them since they moved east. Used to be a regular meetup at the Traquair Fair, but with the departure of children and demise of Acme, we don’t go to that any more.
