First Edinburgh Film Festival
One of a number of posters on show in the Filmhouse of previous Film Festival programmes. I didn't know that it had started out as a festival for documentary films only. It is the world's oldest continuously running film festival, and started out in 1947, the same year as the Edinburgh International Festival as part of a post-war peace initiative.
I have to say that this poster looks positively Victorian to me rather than heralding something new.
Today I was at the Filmhouse with EL to see "Gloria Bell". A sad film in many ways, but we left with the feeling that Gloria was a survivor.
