View from Kingman Wash
Today was Steve's last day before he flies home tomorrow. He wanted to do one last desert exploration and Dave wanted to try somewhere we hadn't been. Nora and Spencer went off to see the kids and the other four of us took off through Boulder and over the bridge to Arizona. The first exit took us to a dirt road that headed up Kingman Wash.
It was an easy drive down the wash toward Lake Mead. We drove to the lake and back up again looking for the best way to get into the area of the hills that was multi colored. We took a side road and ended up in a spot where we could walk up the hills. This photo was from atop a ridge looking back down toward the lake. This is better in large (L).
After our walk we ate the sandwiches I had packed and then took a ride up North Mine Road. This was a much smaller dirt road and we did a bit of banging around as we headed up to the top of the hill above the area we had been. The view was spectacular. We kept our eyes open for a good spot to turn around and finally found one. With Steve providing direction Dave got the car turned around and we headed back down the road.
Now we are relaxing at home before heading over to the kids' to see Bailey and play games with everybody but Emmett who is at work. We will spend another family evening together tonight.
