Lucanus cervus
Or, more commonly known as a Stag Beetle. This is a female and she is on a dead Hawthorne stump. I was putting clippings on a compost heap when I saw this fantastic beetle clambering around. A privilege for me because they are described as ' one of our rarer beetles,' on ptes.org
In other news I've cut some things down, lifted some things up, tied some things in and dug some things out.
After work I sat and drank tea with RF and the boys before going home to tackle paperwork ( just another rock'n'roll Friday night)
