A day in the life

Garden close-ups

I'm not good at names but I'm quite sure some of you are. My fascination for this flower is all the different variations of blue and purple, and that the iphone can capture it so well.

The first extra is a Thistle butterfly, once rarely seen here but lately they arrive earlier and in more numbers, some years ago the researchers at the research center here reckoned you could have maybe a thousand of them here late in July, this year they're talking about an invasion, there are millions of them. Yet another sign of climate change they say. The one i blipped was catching the last of the evening sun on the firewood heap.

The second extra is my first Peony for the year. It's standing a bit in the shade, that's why it's late. This one has a guardian angel in the shape of a spider.
