Pete and I led the annual King's Dyke Bug Hunt this afternoon. After a rainy start, which put off some people, the afternoon turned out to be warm and sunny, and we exceeded our target of finding over 100 different species of invertebrate, including at least three new to the main part of the reserve. 

Dragonflies and damselflies were fairly thin on the ground, but I spotted this immature female Blue=tailed Damselfly peeping out from behind a leaf. Her thorax was the softest lilac-purple, which is characteristic of the form 'violacea'.
