Sleepless in Toronto

A surprise breakfast time phone call from
my dear friend in Toronto. It was about 2 am there! Why wasn’t she asleep, I asked. ‘I can’t,’ she told me. ‘Not with all this noise going on!’
Indeed it was very noisy down in the streets below her high-rise condo apartment. I could barely hear her above the raucous din. The reason? A basketball victory. The Toronto Raptors had narrowly beaten a US team, the Golden State Warriors, in an important match.
Come morning, my school principal friend had a busy junior school to run. Hope she managed at least a bit of a night’s sleep!
