Manhattan from the Staten Island Ferry
With rain gone we started the day on the Staten Island ferry to see the Statue of Liberty, with hundreds of other excited tourists. It’s an amazing symbol but now overwhelmed by the skyscrapers.
Next was the 9/11 memorial which is incredibly moving and I think everyone that visits remembers what they were doing on the day the twin towers came down. Mum bravely went into the exhibit which she said was incredible but so upsetting.
Next was a walk to and over Brooklyn Bridge which was really busy, rush hour, and lots of cyclists shouting at pedestrians. New Yorkers we’ve learnt can be very blunt. On the Brooklyn side we walked along Brooklyn Heights promenade, this would be the place to live in NY.
Dinner tonight was local to where we are staying at Saranghina, and the best food we’ve had so far. The restaurant was very Hip and a menu with lovely salads to combat all the fries.
A great day and 25,000 steps.
