We had a great journey, and everything went like clockwork - we were up at 5am and on our way to the airport by 5.45am, dropped the case off and went through security without any queues. When travelling with mum I always book special assistance as it's too far for her to walk to the gate in the limited time that you have, so we checked into the special assistance lounge and she was given a bleeper, once it goes off, it means the buggy is ready to take you to the plane.
Special assistance also means that we're first on the plane and when we landed, someone was waiting for her at the other end, we bypassed the queue for passport control, then onto the baggage reclaim. Once we'd got our case the girl took us to find our taxi driver who was already waiting, and she even took mum to the car - an excellent service all round!
This is the first time I've booked an Airbnb, and we're certainly not disappointed, I booked a two bedroomed/two bathroom apartment right in the heart of the old town of Nice and it's one of the few buildings that has a lift which was essential with mum. Susannah, our host came to meet us where the taxi dropped us off, she was lovely and very welcoming - she'd even put a bottle of wine in the fridge for us.
Once we'd unpacked, we went to the supermarket to stock up on essentials, and then went for a stroll through the old town and along the seafront. As you can see, the weather is perfect! We stopped for a drink before heading home to get showered and changed for dinner at La Favola, which is somewhere Alan and I enjoyed when we were here last.
We got chatting to a Canadian couple sat next to us, who were from London, Ontario, and had a lovely evening although after our early start we had a relatively early night. Tomorrow, we plan to catch the bus to St Paul de Vence, which is one of the old walled towns.
