Just coming away from the allotments when I noticed the surveyor. The Town Council are planning another lot of allotments. That`s welcome. I spoke to the chap, asked him where his mate was who holds the pole. ` No, don`t do that anymore, one person job now, the theodolite follows me around`.
So when the site appears on the map, its back to marking the plots out using perches, rods , poles and chains. Remembering 10 poles equals 250 sq m, and 1 pole is a quarter of a chain. And then we can move onto furlongs.
