Herb Robert

It was Thornbury U3A today and the subject was HDR - it was interesting.  After lunch (it has been a dry day) I went into the garden to fill up the bird feeders.  Looked at the flowers but all a bit battered.  Picked the Herb Robert and brought inside complete with leaves but by the time I had made my coffee the leaves hd wilted  so I just photographed the flower.  Thought it was Herb Robert but checked on google (as you do) and google confirmed I was correct but what surprised me is that it is an edible herb  so something is learned every day

Herb Robert is plant. It has an unpleasant odor, so it is sometimes called “Stinky Bob.” The leaves, stems, and flowers are used to make medicine.

Herb Robert is used for diarrhea; to improve functioning of the liver and gallbladder; to reduce swelling (inflammation) of the kidneybladder, and gallbladder; and to prevent the formation of stones in the kidneybladder, or gallbladder.

Some people use Herb Robert as a mouthwash or gargle. The fresh leaves are chewed to relieve sore mouth and throat.

How does it work?
An extract of Herb Robert may slow the growth of bacteria and viruses.

A dry and slightly warmer day than yesterday
