TheDay

So, I have a couple of weeks of blips to catch up on. And I’ll get to it. But I have to fast forward to now, for now.

Because....

Today Katie got a place in the Royal Ballet School junior associates. My little, crazy girly starts training with the Royal Ballet School this September. I’m typing this on Wednesday morning, still a bit shell shocked.

Last year, she made it to their Short Wait List. Her teacher made it very clear to her that she believed she could get it this year. The pair of them have worked extremely hard. And today it paid off.

She (and I) are completely blown away by how lovely and delighted people are for her- so thank you every single person who is championing my girl. My phone was going all evening. “That’s not ALLLL about me, mama is it?” But it was.

When I told her, she burst into the most delightful, biggest, wonderful explosion of happy. From the top of her head through to the uncontrollable kicky feet that she used to do as a baby when she was bursting with excitement. We got home and there was a period of crazy dancing. She pulled out her age 7 vintage Royal Ballet Schook sweater as her warm up layer for ballet. She did some bassoon practise, and that started with a period of crazy hyper improvisation before she moved on to playing with so much joy and feeling.

And then she got to go to dance class where she worked insanely hard but also was showered with hugs from completely excited friends and very proud teacher.

So in answer to questions- she starts their weekly satellite classes, every Saturday for the afternoons, and she got the much-sought after but nearest to us centre (there was a possibility of a HUGE trip). It’s not residential training: she’ll have two years in this programme then she’ll audition for White Lodge and their mid assocIates programme. She’ll get some very exciting trips to London as part of her training with them.

I am beyond delighted for and proud of her!
