Flooded riverside

Nice lie in and then energetic start to the day with Bodypump. After a quick lunch, we all headed into town via the river. We hadn't realised quite how high the river was and we had to do quite a bit of paddling to negotiate the tow path into town.

Like a well-oiled (well, reasonably oiled) machine, we split up into teams to do our Christmas shopping. We met up regularly and swapped partners in order to make sure that everything was done (one son went into the Body Shop three times with different partners to get different presents!). Generally, a successful trip.

As it was getting dark, we decided not to risk the riverside on the way home and went back by road instead. Quick turn around and then out again to see 'The Hobbit'. Very long film - and only one of three parts. Think I could have read most of the book in the time we spent watching part one.

The river has flooded in town and is lapping over the performance area. The trees were still lit up despite being surrounded by water. It all looked very pretty with the shop lights and Christmas decorations.
