View from Victoria Tower...
I meant to have a lazy afternoon but at the end of this morning’s walk my friend and mentor suggested we go on the last walk of the festival.
I’ve been on it before but still enjoyed it. As well as the walk we went underground into the bunker which housed the German Signal Station and 100 foot up a spiral staircase to look at the view from Victoria Tower. This was built to commemorate the first ever visit of a reigning monarch to Guernsey. She didn’t tell us she was coming; it was a spur of the moment decision when they were sailing around the Isle of Wight. With no Twitter to pre-warn us we spotted her ship long enough before she arrived to put up bunting in the town and for a crowd to gather. She and Albert didn’t stay long; well under 24 hours but they still had a road each named for them; Queens Road & Prince Alberts Road; both of which their carriage passed along.
