Pentecost ; shavuot, ( feast of harvest )

Three dimensions of pentecost;
1. The first level of pentecost is receiving God's blessing of abundant provision.
From the first sheaf of every new harvest, the Jews would bring a thanksgiving offering to the temple, acknowledging that God opened the heaven to bring forth their bread from the earth.

2. The second level of pentecost is supernatural revelation.
50 days after passover, God directed Moses to go to the submit of mount sinai, it was there that God gave Moses the moral law , for all people.
Sometimes called the law. The teaching of God, the Torah. A hebriac definition of the Torah is ' a set of instructions, from a father to his children ' .
Torah is the revelation of God's will, God's love and God's character. On pentecost, God revealed His heart to His people.
When celebrating pentecost, some would stay up all night studying the scriptures, a way of receiving His word anew.

3. The 3rd level of pentecost is the outpouring of His Spirit. As fire came down on mt sinai, the fire of His glory now came down upon His disciples, enabling them to see the sick healed, the oppressed delivered and the Gospel proclaimed boldly.

The celebration of the giving of the Torah and the giving of the Holy Spirit on the same day, as well as the offering of thanksgiving for harvest, reveal something amazing about the priorities of God. He wants us to know His ways ( the giving of His word ) , and to be empowered by His Spirit to live holy lives, bearing much fruit in Him.


Acts 2 v 17 - 21
' In the last days, ' God says,
" I will pour out My Spirit upon all people.
Your son's and daughters will prophesy.
Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams.
In those days I will pour out My Spirit even on my servants - men and women alike - and they will prophesy.
And I will cause wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below - blood and fire and clouds of smoke.
The sun will become dark, and the moon will turn blood red before that great and glorious day of the LORD arrives.
But everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.
