Watching

This swan at Petersfield Heath looked knackered. I'm not sure if this was the male or female but it was doing a bit of solo childcare while the other one was off doing something else. He/she had brought their two cygnets to shore for a rest but wasn't getting much him/herself due to the presence of several aggressive Egyptian geese. He/she easily saw them off but had to be constantly vigilant. I think these two cygnets are very new; there was another family of three, larger ones further round the pond, which I guess must be the group* from last time.

*is there a collective noun for cygnets?
