Alas I am failing...

...with this thumbnail. It won’t let me alter the parameters...

It is a panoramic shot of part of the garage.

Yesterday I was tidying the garage so I could paint again in it.

But as I was clearing one of the work surfaces where I paint and print, I looked up for some obscure reason. And directly above my head was a wasp’s nest.

There were also the beginnings of several other wasp’s nests on my garage wooden roof. And one was directly above where Popeye sleeps on top of the shelves just two feet above his head.

I did take some photos of the nests. But had to get close, so got a bit nervy and got out of the garage quickly, but I had my finger on the iPhone camera button, so took some interesting blurred/streaky photos of garage and garden as I got out of the garage. Popeye luckily was in the potting shed. I locked the cat flap to the garage and went to bed to think...I fell asleep.

I woke up knowing what I had to do. I cannot have thousands of wasps in my garage and certainly not immediately above my head, or Popeye’s head. All I had was WD40 so I used that. I got two nests and got out quickly...

When I went in the garage at 5:30 am this morning, the WD40 had worked. So I did the other wasp’s nests.

Seems very unusual to me to have that many nests, unless the queen wasp wasn’t successful with the earlier nests, and so built another one, and then another?

If only she had built the nest at the far corner end of the garage I would have left it because the wasps wouldn’t have bothered me there, and there was an exit point by some wood there. They are only interested in the nest.

I went back in at lunchtime and it appears all sorted. So a bit of clearing to do, and I am jumpy as anything. Even a dust mote floating down made me jump.

So I have now cleared two working surfaces, tidied up. Yes I have far too much stuff in there. Popeye has the rocking chair to the left at the front, and I have the high black chair, with the black jacket on the back, to sit on.

Pretty soon I will begin painting again, but I really need a long afternoon nap now....

Take care
Be aware of the wasps building nests on ceilings...
