Female Blue-tailed damselfly

It has been raining a lot today, so I took the opportunity to sort out my clothes and tidy my bedroom.
Later in the afternoon the sun finally made an appearance so I took a quick trip to Southwater country park to look for Damselflies in the long grasses.
I actually found quite a few, and a Common blue butterfly and a tortoise bug, but then I spotted this beauty, a female Blue-tailed damselfly Ischnura elegens form violacea .
The females of this species adopt several colour ways before reaching maturity and this form is in my opinion the most beautiful of all. I had to use the camera flash, because just as I saw her the heavens opened and it literally tipped down! - if you look you can see raindrops on her eyes. I quite like the way the camera flash has enhanced her violet colour too.
I have added shot of another female colour way 'rufescens' in my extras.
