HMS Penzance

We had a leisurely breakfast before heading off to St Austell to meet friends, they are running The Stag Inn If you happen to be passing call in. Home via Waitrose for a bit of ‘posh’ shopping and a coffee, arriving late due to traffic it was a quick change for me and Clare dropped me at Falmouth Docks.
HMS Penzance is a Sandown-class minehunter commissioned by the Royal Navy in 1998 so she was in service five years before I left the Service. It was therefore a privilege to be invited onboard for a cocktail party either side of an abbreviated ships tour, abbreviated due to the bad weather.
By rights given the number of ‘gin & tonics’ I consumed I should have been slightly wobbly but having been part of hosting similar cocktail parties I’m aware of how much gin goes into the glasses!!
