A Walk In The Woods

I spent some time this afternoon walking through our local arboretum. It was the first time I've ever been there and yet it's just a little over a mile from my house. Shame on me. This is a tree arch on the road into the arboretum.

I think I was expecting it to be a mini version of the National Arboretum in Washington D.C., but it's all natural with trails through second growth forest. What a wonderful spot, essentially in the middle of the city by the University. There's an observation tower which I didn't get to today, but will save for another day because I suspect there's a spectacular view of the area. I think it's going to be a pretty neat spot to watch the seasons change and maybe see some birds other than the few robins and sparrows that I have in my yard.
