Tenement stair

I had to take this photo anyway, as I have volunteered to be stair monitor and organise its cleaning. We had to sack our last stair cleaner for using dirty water and being mostly drunk. One day he told me he'd had a heart attack the day before but had come anyway as he didn't want to let us down. You always knew when he'd been round as you'd open the door and be met by the dense smell of mould and mops unwashed. The days of the wee wifey arriving with her bucket have long gone. Now they all have fantoosh websites and mission statements and they want to know how intricate our railings are so, as I say, I had to take this photo anyway. It's rather lovely, I think.
